The Outhouse or outdoor toilet Christmas is made of mouth blown glass and hand painted with brown with touches of red, green and yellow, has half moon or Luna on front door. Ornament measures approximately 3 /14".
Luna, the Crescent shape, is an ancient symbol for women. So outhouses had a "moon" cut into the door to mark the ladies side, while the men's side had a "sun." As time passed, the men's privies fell into disrepair and eventually were abandoned, while the better kept women's outhouses remained.
